Effective date: July 16, 2026 · Applies to the rateharp.com website and the RateHarp mobile app (package com.rateharp)
1. Who we are
RateHarp is operated by AI Canadian Solutions ("we", "us", "our"), a Canadian business.
RateHarp provides live indicative Canadian mortgage-rate information, mortgage and savings calculators,
market news, articles and podcasts, and a directory that can connect you with independent Canadian
mortgage, real-estate and legal professionals. This policy covers both the rateharp.com website
and the RateHarp mobile app (together, the "Service").
This policy is written to satisfy the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic
Documents Act ("PIPEDA") and, for Quebec residents, the Act respecting the protection of
personal information in the private sector, as amended by Law 25. Questions:
aicanadiansolutions@gmail.com.
2. No accounts, no sign-up
RateHarp has no public user accounts. There is no registration, no login and no password
for visitors. You can read rates, news and articles, use every calculator, and listen to the podcast
without giving us any personal information at all. The only personal information we hold about you is
what you choose to submit through a form on the Service.
3. What we collect
- Quote requests and lead forms (voluntary) — when you ask to be connected with a
professional or request a quote, rate-watch alert, valuation or callback: your name, email address,
phone number, city/province, your stated intent, timeline and any message you type, plus the IP
address, browser user-agent and the approximate location derived from the IP recorded with the
submission (used for matching and abuse prevention).
- Listing claims — if you are a professional claiming a directory listing: your
name, email, verification token and any proof document you upload.
- Push notification subscriptions — if you allow browser or app notifications
(for example Morning Brief alerts), the anonymous push-subscription record for your browser or
device. It contains no name or email.
- Analytics — page views and article clicks, counted in aggregate to see which
content is useful. We also use Google Analytics on the website (see Cookies, section 8). We do not
build individual behavioural profiles and we do not sell analytics data.
We do not collect financial account details, government identifiers, precise device location, or contacts.
4. How we share it — the important part
When you submit a quote request or ask to be contacted, we forward your submission — name,
contact details, location and message — to the mortgage, real-estate or legal professional(s) you
asked to be connected with. That is the entire purpose of the form, and it is the only time we
share your personal information with anyone.
Those professionals are independent third parties, not our employees or agents. Once a
referral is sent, the professional holds their own copy of your enquiry under their own privacy
obligations. If you later ask us to erase your data (section 9), we will erase our copy and tell you who
it was sent to, so you can contact them directly.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
5. Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run the Service, bound to process data only on our instructions:
- Cloud hosting — the servers and database where form submissions are stored.
- Google Analytics — aggregate website traffic measurement.
- OpenAI — used to help produce our editorial content (articles and podcast audio, see
section 6). Your form submissions and personal information are never sent to OpenAI.
- Email delivery providers — to deliver referral and notification emails.
6. AI-assisted content
RateHarp's market briefs, articles and podcast episodes are produced with the assistance of
artificial intelligence and reviewed editorially. This is an editorial disclosure, not a data
practice: the AI tools generate our content — they do not process your personal information. Rates
shown are indicative figures modelled from public data (such as the Bank of Canada) and are not quotes.
7. The mobile app (Google Play)
The RateHarp Android app (package com.rateharp) presents the same Service and follows the same rules:
- Data collected: only what you type into a quote/lead form (name, email, phone, city,
message) and, if you enable notifications, an anonymous push token. No account is created.
- Data shared: form submissions are shared with the professional you request, exactly as
described in section 4. Nothing else is shared.
- Data deletion: you can have everything you submitted erased at any time via our
Data Deletion page (also reachable at /account-deletion).
- The app does not collect precise location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers.
8. Cookies
- Strictly necessary — a session cookie used only on internal admin pages; public pages do not require it.
- Analytics — Google Analytics cookies measure aggregate traffic. You can block these
in your browser or with any content blocker without affecting the Service.
- Local preferences — some calculators remember inputs in your own browser's local
storage; that data never leaves your device.
9. Retention and deletion
- Quote requests and leads are retained while the referral is active and for our business
records, and are erased on request at any time.
- Push subscriptions persist until you unsubscribe, block notifications, or ask us to remove them.
- Analytics are aggregate counts not linked to your identity.
- Backups — erased data may persist in encrypted rolling backups for up to 30 days,
after which those backups expire.
To have your data erased, use the Data Deletion page — requests are
actioned within 30 days, normally within a few business days, free of charge.
10. Your rights (PIPEDA & Quebec Law 25)
We honour the following at no charge:
- Access — ask what personal information we hold about you; we answer within 30 days.
- Correction — ask us to fix inaccurate information.
- Withdrawal of consent — withdraw consent to any optional processing at any time.
- Deletion — via the Data Deletion page.
- Portability — receive a machine-readable copy of what you submitted (a formal right
under Quebec Law 25; we extend it to all Canadian users).
- Complaint — with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada
(priv.gc.ca) or, in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à
l'information (cai.gouv.qc.ca).
No decision with a legal or significant effect on you is made by automated means: matching a quote request
to professionals is a simple filter on profession and location, and every referral is reviewable by a human
on request.
11. Security
Form submissions are transmitted over TLS and stored on access-controlled servers. If a breach of security
safeguards creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of
the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as soon as feasible, in accordance with PIPEDA's Breach of Security
Safeguards Regulations, and the Commission d'accès à l'information for Quebec residents.
12. Children
The Service is directed at adults arranging mortgages and real-estate services and is not directed at
children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (under 14 in Quebec);
if we learn we have, we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will change, and
material changes will be highlighted on this page for 30 days.
